What's Your "Thing"?

Everyone has a thing. The thing that prevents them from achieving their goals and dreams. You know the one. It’s annoying, you wish it weren’t there, and yet it persists, keeping you from getting the results that you want.

 

What’s the one thing that keeps showing up in your life? It might be so familiar and ingrained by now that you may not recognize it any more. It has become you.

 

Until now.

 

If you don’t quite know what that thing is for you, try filling in these blanks...

 

"I really would love to _____________ but I can’t because _________________."

 

Usually your “thing” - and you can have several of them - follows the words “but” or “can’t”.

 

For most people, their thing is some version of “not enough.”

 

It could be something like “I can’t afford it.” Or “I don’t have enough time” or friends, or love, or knowledge, resources, or whatever. Or I'm not thin enough, pretty enough, smart enough.

 

Not enough.

 

So, what came up for you first? What’s the thing that keeps getting in the way of your dreams and goals and what your heart is yearning for?

 

And, here’s the million-dollar question:

 

How much longer are you going to allow that “thing” to have power over your life?

 

Yep. That’s a big one. Take a breath and sit with that for a bit.

 

 

YOU have the power to overcome ANY obstacle in your way in order to create the results you want in your life. You just need to know how. There are strategies and tools to help you get there, if you learn them and use them.

 

And you need to be willing to do what it takes.

 

We have all created subconscious habits and beliefs that are running our life on auto-pilot. The only way to create real change is to become aware of what they are, and mindfully create new, life-affirming habits that will lead us toward our goals, passions and dreams.

 

For example, if you’re working on strengthening your wealth and abundance consciousness, you might recognize the following scenario:

 

You go to a nice restaurant and decide you really would like a delectable dish. Then you see the price and a thought such as “Oh, I can’t afford that” crosses your mind in milliseconds, so instead you opt for a lesser item, feeling disappointed that you couldn’t order the other.

 

Sound familiar?

 

Well, it might seem like no big deal. You're being practical. Yet, you just told the Universe “I can’t afford the things I want.” And you probably have variations of those same thoughts many times per day. Yes?

 

So, with that thought repeating over and over, guess what you will keep creating in your life?

 

More situations where the statement “I can’t afford it” is true! 

 

It will show up in all sorts of ways in your life: a small balance in your savings, or an unexpected big expense at the auto mechanic just when you were saving up, or more things you wish you had money for but you just can’t buy. 

 

Back to the restaurant scene, what if you simply shift the thought to: “I CAN afford it and I’m letting myself have it,” if indeed you really CAN afford it, and you're just running an old tape out of habit.

 

Or, if maybe things are truly a bit tight financially, you can change the thought to “I can afford it, and I'm choosing to have this other thing instead.” 

See the difference? The second reframing takes you out of the victim-ness of it and makes you be at choice over the decision, which is much more empowering.

 

What kinds of thoughts do you want to have? Abundance or lack?

 

We’re not suggesting you spend money irresponsibly, if indeed you are having temporary setbacks. Yet, many of us still hold on to that old, old thought "I can't afford it" even though we may have plenty of money set aside.

 

What are you thinking?

 

Our life tends to be a reflection of our inner dialogue. The wonderful Wayne Dyer reversed a well-known saying for a title of one of his books: “You’ll See It When You Believe It.” Basically, it’s about changing your thoughts and beliefs FIRST to create what you want to have show up in your life.

 

Likely, you’ve heard or may know about the Law of Attraction, in which you connect to your thoughts with a deep sense of knowing, feeling and gratitude in order to magnetize what you want to create in your life.

 

So, if you keep running the thought “I can’t afford it” over and over, and feeling a strong sense of lack in your life, feeling guilty for allowing yourself to have things when in reality you CAN afford them, guess why things may have not changed to the degree you would like them to?

 

This is only one example. You might have "things" tripping you up in other important aspects of your life such as relationships, career, family, your weight and health, your spiritual practice. 

 

We invite you to exercise changing some old thought patterns. Just like at the gym, these new behaviors need repetition and work. So, work-out your thoughts throughout the day!

We encourage you to be kind to yourself and give YOUR SELF permission to try something new and finally release old habits, thoughts and beliefs that are holding you back from achieving your goals and dreams!

 

We believe it’s possible to create a life you love that works at all levels. ALL levels! Not just some.

 

Does that mean your life will be perfect all of the time afterwards?

 

No, because that’s not how life works. Yet, if you have the right mindset, the right attitude, and most importantly the right tools and strategies to deal with whatever life throws your way, you will be way ahead of the game and you WILL succeed.

 

So, how much longer will you give away your power to that “thing” that trips you up? It’s up to you.
